Oscar Scherer SP (Nov 27 - 28)

We need no have a few items looked at under warranty at RV World, that is only a few minutes away from Oscar Scherer, so we decided to make a short camping trip out of it. It was rather late when we got here so there was only time to take a walk around the campground and have dinner before dark. We tried fishing down by the lake at dusk, but mosquitos chased us out.
Tuesday - We got the MH in to the dealer and headed down to North Jetty Park. We decided to fish from shore and see if anything was biting. We did not get even a hit, and talking to locals was not encouraging either. They said the fishing here had really dropped of the last several days.

We launched the kayaks at Blackburn Point and fished for a couple hours. John caught a snook and ladyfish on a white/green clouser and Joan caught a catfish on the same. We picked up the MH and took it back to Oscar Scherer for the night. We drove to Pops Sunset Rest. for dinner. It is near North Jetty Park on the water. Nice.
Finally, we went back to the jetty to see the end of the sunset.

Salt Springs - Ocala NF (Nov 8-10)

This is our first time here. Sites are full hookup and most are paved and very nice. We drove down to the boat launch to put in the kayaks, since it was too far to wheel them there. We fished the area that was like a small lake outside the springs and Joan caught three bream and one nice bass, while John settled for one bream and lost two bass. Joan was using an olive wooly bugger and John an orange foam hooper.

Country Oaks Campground - Kingsland, Ga (Nov 6)

We drove 269 miles today and we will spend the weekend here at a nice private campground near the Florida line. It is still cool, but warmer than farther north.
Sunday - We drove back north to Jekyll and St. Simon's Islands. We checked out the campground, which is very wooded and crowded. There is a wonderful bike trail around Jekyll, but is was too cold and windy to use it. We met our friend from Trackrock, Ms. Jimmy and went out to lunch and visited at her very nice place on St. Simon's.

Petersburg COE Campground (Nov 1-6)

We arrived here after driving 4 1/2 hrs. We have a great site, but it looks like the weather is going to deteriorate on us. We fished from shore and managed only a couple small bream. Hopefully we will be able to get the kayaks out while we are here.
Wednesday - Rained off and on all day and night. It is supposed to stop today, but get much cooler and windier. We have plenty of videos and reading material, so we'll survive.
Thursday - We went on an explore to check out other areas around the lake and find places to launch in the future and fish a little. We drove thru Mistletoe State Park and a couple of boat launches. Joan caught three nice bream. We stopped at Angies Seafood/Steak Restaurant and had awesome steaks.
Friday - Weather reports have been correct, meaning the rain is over, but it is now sunny, cool, and quite breezy. We took a nice long hike around the campground this morning and are now sitting by a nice warm fire.
