Moccasin Creek SP (Oct. 31)

We are on our way back to Florida. The fifth wheel is all winterized and will spend the winter at Trackrock. We got on the road about 1PM and arrived here after driving for only an hour. We have a nice site on the creek and will leave in the morning and head to the Strom Thurmond Reservoir. We took a walk, had some lunch, then fished the creek. Nothing was working until John tied on a black wooly bugger. He had three big trout follow and then one took it, but got off. The sun began to set so we had to quit.

Moccasin Creek runs thru the campground and is a good trout stream.

Brasstown Bald with Mt. High Hikers (Oct 16)

Today we drove to the top of Brasstown Bald and hike about two miles down the Wagon Trail to a scenic overlook and back. We then hiked the 3/4 mile to the top observation deck. The leaves are close to peak color now, and the air was cool making a perfect day to hike. We will miss the folks we hike with, but will see them again next spring.

Elkmont Campground - Great Smoky Mt. Nat. Park (Oct 4-8)

We had a wonderful time in this absolutely gorgeous place. It was quite cool with temps in the low 40s, but our micro-fleece blankets kept us nice and cozy. The Little River that runs through the park was a joy to fish but did not give them up easily. We did have some action with two caught and several lost. We met a local guide named Josh who was kind enough to give us a few tips.
