Standing Indian Hike (Jul 6)

We met our friends with Mountain High Hikers at Ingles in Hayesville and carpooled about 20 miles (half on gravel) to the start, which is on the Appalachian Trail. We did a steady, but nice, 2 1/2 mile climb to a clearing where the view was spectacular. The rododendrons were in perfect bloom due to the 5500 ft elevation. Even though the temperature was on the upper 80s in Hayesville, it was only on the low 70s on the mountain. On the hike we talked to Bill and Sharon who also like to fly fish.
